About Me

• I sometimes write under just my maiden name.
• I’ve been married since August 2011.
• I have a condition called VACTERL.
• My husband has it as well.
• We met at a conference for it in 2005. His mother introduced us.
• My mother has been married three times.
• My dad has been married twice.
• I have 3 siblings – my stepbrother, Sam; stepsister, Molly; half-sister, Madison. They’re all on my dad’s side.
• I have a cousin born ten weeks after me I consider a sister.
• I have no living stepparents.
• Because of my dad’s remarriage into a huge family and my grandmother’s 40 year common law relationship with the man I considered my grandfather, I have roughly 30 cousins.
• As of January 2023, we have 15 nieces and nephews 9 and under.
• I make baby hats and blankets for every niece/nephew born in my family, and I also make many to donate to hospitals.
• Asking women when they’re “finally going to have a baby” is rude and I hate when people ask me. For the record: never, sorry.
• I have Complex-PTSD, which means my trauma stems from more than one place. Mine is mostly medical.
• I lost count of how many surgeries and hospitalizations I’ve had, but I estimate for medical record purposes I’ve had 150+.
• Growing up, I was obsessed with Liza Minnelli and Lucille Ball. I was a weird kid.
• Backstreet Boys over *NSYNC.
• I live by the gospel of George Jones, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson.
• I live an hour away from Willie, but my husband won’t let me go there because he’s afraid I’d be charged with trespassing. Or stalking.
• I’ve seen every episode of every season in the Law & Order franchise at least once. My favorite will always be Lennie (Jerry Orbach).
• Steel Magnolias will always be my favorite movie.
